Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Calne

Spice Of Bengal

13 Wood St, Calne SN11 0BZ, UK – 01249 811833

One of the best Indian restaurants we've tried - excellent service, food and value. Very clean and will definitely visit again, since our daughter has just moved to Calne. Congratulations to you all for running such a great business!!!!

Another superb meal in the Spice of Bengal. Mum chose the Bengal Machlee with squid, mussels & proper sized king prawns - absolutely superb. I absolutely know what I'm ordering next time. Only complaint was from my Dad as Mum was in no mood to share! Favourite daughter however was luckier xxx

Antica Roma

2 High St, Calne SN11 0BH, UK – 01249 819822

As of the time of this review, this restaurant has not been open for long. But I've heard lots of good things. Great things in fact. Despite having spent our honeymoon in Rome, I won't pretend to know a great deal about what proper Italian food should taste or look like. This being our Anniversary meal, we were thoroughly looking forward to it and I have to say, we were not disappointed. We arrived just as the restaurant opened at 5:30 and were seated straight away. There were already a few people already seated and the place continued to get busier over the next couple of hours. But there is plenty of space and at no point did it feel too busy, or cramped. The decor is quite attractive and includes some prints of Italian landmarks, etc. Of course, if the food was awful then no amount of prettying the place up would make any difference. The food, as it happens, is far from awful. Even for a 50% vegetarian couple there was more than enough choice and we chose wisely. Between ourselves and our extended family, we have eaten every type of dish on the menu and I have yet to hear a bad word said about the food. I could go on about how delicious and authentic it is, but I'd rather just tell you to go. Keep going. Keep this place open and successful and you'll keep going back. It may not be Rome, but hey, most places aren't. What it is though, is a very close second.

Superb food from a newly opened, independent Italian restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive. The menu has a wide selection of dishes to choose from. All sound mouth wateringly good and they surpass expectation. Good choice of beers and wines too. Excellent!

Fay's Bistro

3 Beach Terrace, Calne SN11 0RD, UK – 01249 812508

Great, friendly staff. Always accommodating to our family. Literally the best pancakes I've ever had. I recommend booking a table as they are deservedly busy but never rushed.

Good menu, nice location by the river, convenient local parking, fish sharing platter with home made goujons and fishcakes, nice chunky bread, good quality coffee
